Children’s author Shutta Crum is an educator as well as an award-winning writer of poetry for adults.

Her special talents as a librarian include bringing stories to life at animated story hours, leading writing workshops for children and adults, and speaking about children’s books. She also conducts library staff development and teacher in-service training.

Shutta was honored for her work with children when she received the Michigan Library Association Children’s Services Division Award of Merit in 2002, as Youth Librarian of the year. In 2005 she was invited to read at the White House.
